FIGHTFAN:  We haven’t talked in a while. What’s happened with you since Kick Down 100?

Joey Munoz:  I’ve fought a few times since then. I fought in Casper in January.

FIGHTFAN:  And this is your first fight as a pro, tell me about the decision to go Pro.

Joey Munoz:  It’s just time. I have been on a pretty good win streak, and I have had my one loss. I feel confident and I feel good and the right offer was there so I took it.

FIGHTFAN:   Awesome…I didn’t hear about the loss, can you bring me up to speed?

Joey Munoz:  Yeah, I was going to have a super fight at 155 and that ended up getting blown out of the water. We drove ten hours to Cortez Colorado for King of the Cage and when I got there they told me the only opponent they had for me was at 170 pounds. I figured I drove this far, why not. I ended up losing a decision to Dominick Gurrell.

FIGHTFAN:   Wow man, so you went in with a fight at 155 and they threw you a 170 pound curve ball?

Joey Munoz:  Yup.

FIGHTFAN:   Crazy…so what did you weigh in at for the fight?

Joey Munoz:  Well, they notified me of the change and told me to try to put on some weight, so I started eating and got up to 163. It was a fun fight, a good experience. I had a good time and met some cool people.

FIGHTFAN:  Nice…so what are your thoughts on Joey Guerra?

Joey Munoz:  I’ve seen some of his fights and I see a lot of the same fighting styles. We’re built about the same, but I think my wrestling is going to be superior. He definitely has knock out power, but as long as I can keep moving and keep my distance I should be fine.

FIGHTFAN:   So could you have picked a tougher opponent to go pro against (laughs)?

Joey Munoz:  (laughs) Not right away, not off the bat, no.

FIGHTFAN:   What are your thoughts on going pro? Are you feeling comfortable with it?

Joey Munoz:  Yeah, I feel real good. We’ve been ready to go pro for a while now. Been thinking about it and training. We have been working with Travis Peak and feeling pretty good so we figured we would give it a shot and see how it goes.

FIGHTFAN:  Do you have anybody else from you camp fighting on the card?

Joey Munoz: On this card, no. Just me this time.

FIGHTFAN:   Well awesome Joe, it’s been a long time since I have seen you fight, so I’m looking forward to the show. Congrats on the move to Pro, and I know there’s a lot of people as excited for this one as I am.

Joey Munoz: Thanks man, much appreciated. It’s always good to get a call from you guys.
