Fight 1Cody Ennis vs. Ian Taylor – 155 Kickboxing

Round 1 – Both fighters came out exchanging rapid leg kicks. Ennis tagged Taylor with a straight right which rattled him but Ennis was unable to follow up.

Round 2 – Taylor opened aggressively landing leg and body kicks, then went upstairs with a left hook that backed Ennis up. Ennis drew blood from Taylor’s nose and mouth by sticking a regular jab in his face. Taylor closed with a power one-two. Between rounds, Ennis’ corner told him, “I don’t care if you get hit, just  put it all out there and give me two fuckin’ minutes.”

Round 3 – Taylor caught Ennis with a spinning backfist and kept the pressure on with follow up strikes. Ennis’ corner was shouting for him to attack and throw his hands but Ennis was hesitating and appeared gassed. Judges: 30,-27, 30-,27, 30-27 – Taylor

Fight 2Brittany Boone vs. Lora Francisco Maria – 110 Kickboxing

Round 1 – After being instructed by the referee to “fight like girls”, both ladies engaged immediately. Boone landed a knee to the body and followed with a right cross which twisted Maria’s head. Maria turned her back and Boone followed up with combinations to prompt an 8 count from the referee. Maria weathered the storm with push kicks to gain space then engaged Boone with combinations of her own backing her up at the bell. Between rounds, Boone’s corner told her to throw another knee to the body.

Round 2 – Boone applied a Thai clinch and threw knees to the body, this time her corner shouted, “break off and throw!”  Boone obliged landing several strikes which landed cleanly, but Maria dug in her feet and fought back with wide open counters.

Round 3 – Boone punched her way in to lock up another Thai clinch then circled off and threw strikes as she had the whole fight. Maria pushed forward with offense after Boone stopped punching, pinning her against the fence, but was only able to land what appeared to be tired body shots and upper cuts. Judges: 29-28, 28-28, 29-28 Boone.

Fight 3Leif Habuit vs. Chris Lobato – 155

Round 1 – Habuit, the taller fighter immediately stung Lobato with a snapping leg kick causing him to favor his left leg. Lobato countered by clinching then dropping into guard. The referee stood the fighters as neither made progress in the grapple. Habuit stepped in and squared Lobato with a power right that appeared to knock him out momentarily, the cage holding him up. Habiut glanced back to see if the referee was going to stop it then knocked Lobato to the ground and finished him with right hands. Time 1:50

Fight 4Mario Molina vs. Luis Vasquez – 145

Round 1 – Vasquez unloaded about 20 strikes in the opening 5 seconds then slammed Molina with a hip toss. He bettered his position in the grapple then sunk a guillotine, rolled Molina to tighten it and tapped him. Time: 1:03

Fight 5Aaron Scott vs. Nick Eklund -170

Round 1 – Scott opened with a leg kick, landed  a one-two to the face and then took a standing guillotine. He pulled guard, looked for a triangle but began to push his head before his legs were locked and without arm control. Eklund slipped out, scrambled to back control sunk a rear naked and tapped Scott. Time: 1:33

Fight 6Dylan Oligo vs. Randy Trujillo – 125

Round 1 – Oligo went from south paw to conventional then landed a body kick then a head kick that dropped Truhillo to a knee. Trujillo quickly regained his feet but Oligo tossed him and took mount. He rifled ground and pound listening to instruction from his corner the whole time. He had a chance at an arm bar and then a triangle. Trujillo escaped both then got off the canvas and threw power strikes.

Round 2 – Oligo fired a spinning back kick and another head kick. He tagged him in the face with a punch combination. Trujillo clinched. Oligo reached under Trujillo’s head then sunk a guillotine and dropped into guard. On the ground he applied a body lock and cranked up under Trujillo’s chin until Trujillo tapped. Time: 1:13

Fight 7Randy Caruso vs. Nolan McLaughlin – 155 Title

Round 1 – The fighters touched gloves and  exchanged Caruso landing a right hand to the face leaving McLaughlin with a purple knot under his eye. Caruso stung McLaughlin with a left and followed with a right uppercut. Landing harder and harder punches with accuracy, Caruso finally dropped McLaughlin then took top position and finished him with a series of right hands to the side of the head. Time: 2:15

Fight 8 Brandon Heredia vs. Zach Hare – 145 Title

Round 1 – Heredia jabbed his way in with a low base and landed a right uppercut, dropping Hare. Heredia did some ground work then permitted Hare to stand. Hare Got Heredia to the mat by committing to the takedown but Heredia kept battling to his feet and landing sharp punches.

Round 2 – Hare had a pained look on his face as Heredia jabbed and crossed. Hare got a takedown, Heredia stood, Hare got a takedown, Heredia stood. Hare threatened with an arm bar prompting the referee to move in close as he endured punches to the face from Heredia to hold onto it. Heredia finally slipped out, got to his feet again, and the bell sounded.

Round 3 – The fighters traded with Heredia dominating the exchange except for a power right from Hare to the face. Hare went low and and took the fight to his guard. Heredia used ground and pound from the mount. Hare got up bleeding from the nose and mouth and backpedaled as Heredia, bleeding from the bridge of his nose, pursued. Hare got a desperation single leg at the bell. Judges:  30-27,30-27, 30-27 Heredia.

Fight 9Canaan Grigsby vs. DeQuan Townsend – 185 Pro

Round 1 – Townsend ducked a Grigsby jab and tagged him with a counter right cross that put him instantly to sleep. Time: 7 seconds.

Fight 10Lacey Schuckman vs. Darla Harris – 110

Round 1 – After a good staredown, the ladies declined to touch gloves. Schuckman landed a good kick to the head, Harris banged back with lefts and rights. The crowd was screaming from the opening bell. Schuckman clinched then took Harris to the mat with a lateral toss. Harris swung a leg over her shoulder and threatened with an armbar. Schuckman slipped out then pulled guard and attempted a triangle but Harris escaped to her feet. The ladies exchanged quality right hands and battled in a clinch, Harris scoring with an uppercut just before the bell. As the ladies walked to their respective corners, Schuckman looked at the Fightfan camera and posed for a quick photo.

Round 2 – Harris tagged Schuckman with a straight right-left hook. Schuckman absorbed the shots and bulled her into the cage. Harris landed a strong knee to the body in the clinch. Schuckman broke the clinch and snapped a hard kick to Harris’ face that drew roars from the already vocal full house. Schuckman again took the fight to the mat where the grapple was back and forth until Schuckman passed guard, trapped Harris’ arms and dropped 5 right hands to the side of Harris’ face before mixing in some lefts. The referee stood the fight to warn for blows to the back of the head. Harris got up grabbing her ear in pain but indicated to the referee that she was fit to continue. Schuckman walked in with hand strikes then scored another takedown pausing momentarily to look at the big screen. Harris kicked Schuckman off with an upkick and stood up. Schuckman poured on the offense with yet another head kick followed by punches and another takedown. Harris was nowhere near giving up and absorbed what seemed like Schuckman’s entire arsenal as the round closed to the noise of a crazy audience.

Round 3 – Harris snapped Schuckman’s head back with a jab. Schuckman countered with a double leg in front of her own corner as her husband and coach, Randal Schuckman, called for a skull ride then looked down media row and said, “whatever works!” The fight was up and back down several times with Schuckman doing the best work in both and Harris proving she has one of the strongest chins around and no quit in her. At the bell the ladies embraced and Schuckman carried Harris around the ring. Harris was still smiling and blew a few kisses to members of the audience. Judges: 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 – Schuckman

Fight 11Vinny Lopez vs. TJ Nunnaley – 185

Round 1 – Lopez’ corner was instructing him to take his time as he circled and gaged distance. Suddenly he lowered his head, closed the distance and uncorked a left hook that put Nunnaley to sleep against the cage. Time:51

 

 

Between fights, Anne Whipple raised money for local fighter JJ Mondragon who suffered significant injuries in a recent accident. Her efforts throughout the night resulted in $961.04, all of which will be donated to Mondragon to help with his medical expenses.
