Arnold Schwarzenegger attacked, security detail drops the ball (video)

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former governor of California, former bodybuilder, actor, and all around superstar, was recently attacked while visiting the Arnold Classic in Africa.

Schwarzenegger was Snapchatting video of some of the athletes when someone attacked him from behind, landing a dropkick to his back. The Governator was rocked forward, but brushed off the incident.

“Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about. I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot,” Schwarzenegger tweeted. “I only realized I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat.”

While the seven-time former Mr. Olympia took the incident in stride, former UFC middleweight contender Tim Kennedy did not. He had some harsh criticism for Schwarzenegger’s security detail.

“This is infuriating. I have spent a bit of time with Governor Schwarzenegger. He is an incredible human,” Kennedy wrote.

“Unforgivable lapse by his protective detail.”

This isn’t simply a fan spouting off either. Aside from having been a professional fighter in the sporting world, Kennedy is one of the more decorated members of the United States military. He is a Green Beret, Special Forces Sniper with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

With his specialized training, Kennedy has worked numerous security details. In short, he knows what he’s talking about, so Schwarzenegger’s security detail may want to be concerned for their own hides after the incident in Africa.

Sage Northcutt suffered 8 fractures in 29-second loss in ONE Championship debut

Sage Northcutt says he suffered eight fractures and had to endure a nine-hour surgery following his ONE Championship debut on Friday.

Northcutt was one of several recent high profile North American signings by ONE Championship, but his promotional debut did not go as planned at all.

On a night of massive upsets, the headline news was arguably Northcutt (11-3) getting knocked out 29 seconds into his ONE Championship debut. The American was under the impression he could stand and strike with Muay Thai veteran Cosmo Alexandre (8-1).

The Brazilian quickly set him straight on that point. The contest had barely got going when a right hand from Alexandre connected clean with the chin of the former UFC poster boy, who face planted into the ONE Championship canvas.

Twenty-four hours later, Northcutt posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed, x-rays looming over both shoulders, saying that Alexnadre inflicted eight fractures on him, requiring a nine-hour surgery to repair the damage.

“Fresh out of surgery… I had 8 fractures and a nine hour intense operation. Feeling blessed for the amazing care and all the support from ONE Championship, my family/friends and fans!” Northcutt wrote on Instagram.

No word yet on how long Northcutt will be sidelined or when he might be expected to return under the ONE Championship banner.

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Kevin Lee official as all fighters make weight at UFC Rochester

There was very little drama on Friday morning in New York as all the fighters competing at UFC Fight Night in Rochester made weight.

In the main event, Rafael dos Anjos takes on Kevin Lee in a battle between two former lightweights who are now competing at welterweight.

Dos Anjos is ranked in the top five in the division but he’s coming off two straight losses so obviously he wants to get back on track. He came in at 170.4 pounds for his sixth fight in the welterweight division since moving up.

As for Lee, he was at 170.2 pounds as he looks to get a fresh start at welterweight after depleting his body for his entire run in the UFC while constantly killing himself to make the lightweight limit.

A change in the bout order due to Neil Magny being removed from the card earlier this week now puts middleweights Antonio Carlos Junor and Ian Heinisch in the co-main event slot.

Carlos Junior, who previously competed as high as heavyweight, came in at 185.6 pounds while Heinisch was exactly the same as he looks to pick up the biggest win of his young UFC career.
