Full Force Fighting – Play by Play

Naylen Schmidt V. Heather Schlaben

Round 1 – Both fighters showed respect for each other opening the fight cautiously. Schmidt shot in grabbing Schlaben’s leg but neither could muscle out an advantage. Schlaben pressed the action moving in with crisp punch combinations and kicks and Schmidt again shot for a leg. Schlaben scored a double leg slam just before the bell.

 Round 2 – Schmidt, bleeding from the nose tried to keep her distance but Schlaben connected with jabs and overhand rights. Schmidt shot for a takedown but was stuffed and a clinch ensued. Upon separating, there was a big exchange; Schmidt scoring with a right hand, then getting tagged with a counter.

 Round 3 – The pace was decidedly quicker. Schlaben landed a strong uppercut in the clinch then exploited her reach advantage landing left rights to the face of Schmidt. Schlaben then did additional damage in the clinch while Schmidt clung to her leg in defense. As the 10 second warning sounded, the crowd showed their appreciation. Decision: 30-27,30-27,30-27 Schlaben.

Tito Solis V. Brian Scraper

Round 1 – Each of the fighters landed opening shots then clinched. Scraper landed a series of uppercuts while in a headlock then was taken down by a Solis hip toss. Solis then had one point deducted for strikes to the back of the head and the fight resumed standing. Solis brought the fight back to the mats with another hip toss then worked some ground and pound as Scraper defended efficiently in the guard. The round ended with the crowd chanting “Tito, Tito…”

Round 2 – Solis connected with a power shot over a Scraper lunge, rocking Scraper. Solis pounced immediately forcing referee Eric Heinz to stop the fight due to strikes 8 seconds into the second round.

 Audio Estrada V. Jeremy Hastings

Round 1 – Two huge hooks by Estrada led to a Hastings arm bar attempt. Estrada freed himself and took position on top battling until Hastings pulled guard. Bleeding from his right eye, Hastings attempted a triangle. Again, Estrada pulled free and took Hastings’ back briefly before Hastings reestablished guard. Estrada looked for openings to do more damage to Hastings’ eye but the referee stood the fighters up. Estrada landed two big punches before the bell.

 Round 2 – Estrada opened with a big double leg slam off of a Hastings jab. Estrada worked Hastings’ ribs in the guard until the referee stood them up. The round ended with Estrada back in Hastings’ guard both appearing winded.

 Round 3 – Estrada took Hastings down after grazing him with a vicious left hook. He did damage with punches from the top position. Hastings, bleeding heavily failed to get off effective offense or improve his position. Fatigued, Estrada tried for the finish as the referee watched closely. The round ended with Estrada on top and both fighters very tired. Decision: 30-27,30-27,30-27 Estrada.

 Tim Brower V. Brandon Griffin

Round 1 – The fighters threw caution to the wind with an immediate exchange of heavy punches. Griffin took the fight to the ground after a battle for position in the clinch. Griffin quickly passed Brower’s guard then dropped elbows and punches until the referee had seen enough stopping the fight at 1:19 of the first round.

 L.T. Nelson V. Ricardo McKeney

Round 1 – McKeney came out with a punch combination but with his head down, Nelson squared him with a forceful uppercut. Nelson followed up with a huge knee from a Muy Thai clinch dropping McKeney then finishing him with rapid fire fists as referee Adam Martinez stopped the fight at 14 seconds of the first round.

 Josh Cavan V. Matt McNachay

Round 1 – The fighters touched gloves and exchanged jabs. Cavan launched a hard combination then shot in for a double leg slam. He immediately passed guard and did damage with both hands. McNachay weathered the storm and improved his position briefly before Cavan took side control and continued to work. Cavan fought past upkicks eventually passing guard again and finishing the fight by verbal tap out due to strikes at 4:37 of the opening round.

 Jason Lee V. Todd Meredith

 Round 1 – Both fighters were extremely aggressive wanting to trade big shots. With his left hand behind Meredith’s neck, Lee landed consecutive uppercuts. Meredith improved his position briefly but then put his head down as he tried a body lock and Lee squared him with a knee to the face which left him out cold for several uneasy minutes. Time of the knock out was 38 seconds of round 1.

 Jeremy Kimball V. Aaron Romero

 Round 1 – Romero opened by landing an overhand right. Kimball secured a Muy Thai clinch and did some damage with knees before Romero pushed away. Kimball then snapped Romero’s head back with a stiff jab that appeared to do damage to Romero’s eye. Romero dropped to his knees and Kimball rushed in landing a series of rights countered with a straight left which appeared to hurt Romero’s eye. Kimball went for the finish landing a series of rights causing a referee stoppage 54 seconds into the first round.

 Lamumba Sayers V. Ed Banks

Round 1 – The fight opened with heavy exchanges before Sayers wrestled the fight to the mat. From there, he worked to get room to do damage in the guard. He fought off Banks’ upkicks to land punches and finally passed Banks’ guard in a scramble. Lamumba briefly took Banks’ back but kept improving his position on top and secured a head and arm choke to finish the fight at 2:35 of the first round.

 Cody Donovan V. Xavier Saccamano

Round 1 – Donovan got an immediate double leg takedown and began maneuvering from the top position. He passed Saccamano’s guard but Saccamano defended effectively. Donovan went for a rear naked choke along the fence but Saccomano used the cage to reverse their positions and eventually stood the fight back up. Sacommano then went for a Guillotine, locking Donovan’s head tightly for several seconds before Donovan’s head popped out to the approval of the crowd. In back and forth action, Donovan thought he had an armbar but again, Saccomano defended.

Round 2 – The fight resumed in another clinch along the cage until Saccomano pulled Donovan back to the mat with a Guillotine. Donovan freed his head by digging rib shots then gaining side control and climbing onto Saccomano’s back to end the fight by tap out due to rear naked choke at 2:53 of the second round.

 Justin Salas V. Rob Emerson

Round 1 – The fighters circled cautiously feeling each other out with strikes. They clinched and went to the mat each looking to set up submissions. The two battled their way back to stand up and threw cautious strikes.

 Round 2 – This round began the same way as the first; both fighters wary of the others’ strikes. Again, the fight made its way unspectacularly to the ground, then back to standing clinch neither fighter inflicting damage or gaining any other particular advantage.

 Round 3 – This round was a virtual carbon copy of the first two. Two evenly matched fighters being cautious, neither causing much damage or finding effective offense. Salas did connect with a couple of knees and some of his punches scored which, along with a sweet take down, probably won him the fight. Decision: 29-28,29-28,29-28 Salas.
